The Race For Umno Youth Chief Post Heats UpPublished Oct 14th, 2008
Two men are contesting the Umno Youth chief post and both have family connections that ties their legacy to the old UMNO we’re all trying to reform. But both rival are adamant they’re both open and rallying for changes when they’re elected The first batch of youth divisions meeting saw Mukhriz Mahathir outstaging Khairy Jamaluddin Mukhriz Mahathir MP for Jerlun, who is the son of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has 40 nominations so far, just enough of the required 39 to be able to contest the post. While Khairy Jamaluddin MP for for Rembau, the son-in-law of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is trailing with only 20 nominations, but observers are confident he’ll garner the rest of the nominations from 119 youth divisions
