MP Among 17 Arrested in Clashes with Police

Kapar member of parliament S. Manikavasagam and seventeen others was arrested by the police.

The protesters of around 200 people assembled outside Brickfields police headquarters in support of P. Uthayakumar seeking to lodge a police report.

The assembly was deemed hostile and volatile by the police and they had a show of force by calling in the riot police and vehicles.

Federal Reserve Unit water cannons were used by-orders of Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid.

He cited that he had to do so as the crowd refused to disperse even after several warnings.

Currently all 17 has been released and are out on bail now.
