Malaysian blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin will be jailed for two years and the terms can be extended indefinitely at the whim of the government if they deemed him a future security threat under the local security law.
His cause for being jailed … well his effort for greater civil rights in Malaysia by publishing alleged government wrongdoing at his popular blog portal, Malaysia Today.
Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar signed on the dotted line for his jail term stating Raja Petra’s writings post a threat to Islam and national security as it serves a potential cause for racial tension.
Raja Petra has been in police custody since September 12th under ISA.
The ISA act allows detention of two months as investigation are on-going. Raja Petra will serve his two year term at Kamunting Detention Center, Perak.
