![]() Five on poll duties get to vote firstPublished Aug 25th, 2009A police officer and four civilians cast their postal votes for the Permatang Pasir by-election ahead of the 20,283 registered voters who would head for the polling booths Tuesday.
The PAS state assemblyman for Permatang Pasir in Penang, Datuk Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman, died in the morning of July 31, 2009 at the National Heart Institute. His death has set off another by-election battle between Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Nasional (BN). It will be the eighth by-election for either federal or state seats since the 2008 general election. The Election Commission has set the nomination for the Permatang Pasir by-election in Penang will be held on Aug 17, followed by polling on Aug 25. ![]()
