Voters, mainly senior citizens, showed up early Tuesday to cast their votes for the Permatang Pasir by-election at eight polling stations. Several minor clashes were reported but were brought under control.
Permatang Pauh Umno division secretary Rohaizat Othman, 38, has been chosen the Barisan Nasional candidate for the Permatang Pasir state by-election on Aug 25.
Penang PAS commissioner Salleh Man, 53, has been picked as the party’s candidate for the Permatang Pasir state by-election on Aug 25.
Permatang Pasir is set to be a one-to-one fight between PAS and Umno as the by-election officially kicks off its first day of campaigning after nomination ended at 10am on August 17, 2009.
