Permatang Pasir by-election will be a straight fight between BN’s Rohaizat and Salleh from PAS.

The PAS state assemblyman for Permatang Pasir in Penang, Datuk Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman, died in the morning of July 31, 2009 at the National Heart Institute.
His death has set off another by-election battle between Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Nasional (BN). It will be the eighth by-election for either federal or state seats since the 2008 general election.
The Election Commission has set the nomination for the Permatang Pasir by-election in Penang will be held on Aug 17, followed by polling on Aug 25.
