PAS in the hopes of capturing more support has plans to open its membership to non-Muslims. Still in the works, the Islamic opposition party is looking ahead of the party polls that’s coming up in less than 30 months.
With this change of its constitution, it will allow non-Muslim members to join its ‘radical’ ranks. The spokesperson from PAS indicated the party should not focus on its long-time race base politics anymore.
PAS through the years has been known for its tough hands and strict religious laws, and I believe to dispel such notion will take time for the non-Muslims. But still its a good first step by PAS to open up and embrace change.
