![]() Only 1 out of 138 BN MP Agree On ISA Debate In ParliamentPublished Oct 25th, 2008
Despite nation wide condemnation and pleas from the Opposition for the Parliament to debate the draconian Internal Security Act (ISA) in the Dewan Rakyat, it is reported that only one ruling member of the majority from the Barisan Nasional (BN) is committed to the debate. The identity of the Barisan Nasional Member of Parliament (MP) was declined and not disclosed by opposition MP Lim Kit Siang as he spoke to the media. He told the reporter that the MP was not from MCA or Gerakan. Opposition is making grounds in Dewan Rakyat and the opposition de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim promise to topple the government constitutionally as his prior attempts was denied and made a mockery of. The Barisan Nasional with its coalition members MCA and Gerakan has 138 seats out of the 222 total, while the opposition has 81. The other three seats are independent MPs. ![]()
