![]() Najib says “Party Negative Image” the cause for By-Election LossPublished Jan 20th, 2009
Malaysia’s opposition coalition partner PAS won the Kuala Terengganu By-Election by a considerable margin. The Islamic PAS party won the seat from the ruling coalition by some 2,631 votes. It was a test of the nation’s political mood and they’re leaning towards the opposition. Malaysia’s deputy prime minister Najib Razak blames the ruling party’s negative image as the cause for their loss. He says that the image perceived by the voters of their leaders as being ‘unfriendly’ was one of the factors for the defeat. Najib added, “The people gauge UMNO from their relationship with UMNO leaders at all levels”. This spells trouble for the in-coming Prime Minister Najib Razak this coming March, as he has a growing dissent among his people on the dominance of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). ![]()
