![]() New Penang deputy chief post to be announced this WednesdayPublished Apr 12th, 2009
After PKR’s Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin resigned few days ago over alleged illegal quarry activities, the vacant seat is currently being discussed by the Parti Keadilan Rakyat leaders for the new deputy chief minister (I) post. Among the likely candidate are Sungai Bakap assemblyman Maktar Shapee and Batu Maung assemblyman Abdul Malik Abul Kassim. Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan En awaits Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim advise and recommendations for the post before proceeding with the appointment. Fairus resigned last Wednesday on 8th April as MACC investigation is still going-on over his alleged corrupt dealings with a quarry in mainland Seberang Prai. The former deputy chief minister still remains as the Penanti state assemblyman and a Parti Keadilan Rakyat member. ![]()
