Public Servant Receives Death Threat “You are going to die”

Receiving death threats over the phone, intimidation in numbers by men to political bullying are some of the trouble public servants has to face.

A recent one is a Petaling Jaya councillor, Derek Fernandez receiving an anonymous call threatening over the phone saying, “You and your family are going to die!”.

The Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) councillor with his Petaling Jaya Residents Association Coalition chairman Liew Wei Beng has since lodged a police report.

According to these councilmen accounts, such abuse is rampant amongst MBPJ officers as they carried out their duties on the ground.

One recent incident of trying to take down illegal billboards saw 20 men approaching them, trying to stop the takedown.

Now these councillors are urging the police to take action and seeking them to do their job, stating all public officers are to be protected so as they can carry out their jobs without fear and intimidation.
