![]() Malaysia Opposition Leads At By-ElectionPublished Jan 14th, 2009
If according to an opinion poll which surveyed 527 people, the Malaysia’s opposition are leading in the all important by-election at Kuala Terengganu. The poll was done by Merdeka Centre for Opinion Research indicates that the situation favors the opposition. It did not describe however the overall breakdown of voting intentions. The by-election at Kuala Terengganu is a crucial test for current Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak, for his future role of PM. A loss by UMNO will indicate the lack of support for the ruling Barison Nasional, and add momentum to the Opposition fervor and grip on the electoral votes as it gains wins district by district. Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) is set to lock horns with the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) this January 17th when the polls opens. ![]()
