![]() Judge Lift Media Gag Order Of Affidavit Filed By Datuk Seri Anwar IbrahimPublished Oct 10th, 2008
Yesterday court session on Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy trial saw the Judge S.M Komathy made a ruling to lift the gag order to prevent media from reporting an affidavit filed by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim The court proceedings yesterday started off early with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s defence lawyer Sulaiman Abdullah wanting the court to revisit the gag order imposed on previous court day The affidavit is regarding his “black eye” incident in 1998. Despite DPP Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden argument that the affidavit would tarnish the reputation of Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, but Judge S.M Komathy went ahead to lift the gag order after hearing submissions from defence lawyer Sulaiman Abdullah and DPP Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden It seems defence lawyer Sulaiman Abdullah argument was more valid to the judge as he showed that the exhibits are part and parcel of the affidavit. He then argued that the exhibits are interconnected and cannot be separated and deem void if the affidavit is not included in the court proceedings. The fact the affidavit was read out in the court, the judge has no choice not to bar it The case continues at the end of the month on October 31st. This is due to Anwar Parliament duties during the next coming week ![]()
