MP Gobind Suspended One Year From Parliament

Opposition lawmaker from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Gobind Singh Deo was barred from Malaysia’s parliament for one year after he accused PM-in-waiting Najib Razak being involved in the murder of 28-year-old Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The motion was called and passed in parliament, of course with much protest and heated exchange from the opposition lawmakers.

They were up in arms and protested when the Speaker of the House refuse to give Gobind any chance to defend himself.

Before the one year ban, Gobind was suspended for a day for calling Najib a murderer when debating in parliament.

Altantuya Shaariibuu has been linked to the DPM Najib Razak of having extramarital affairs, which he denies.

Opposition de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was quoted, “How do you proceed to condemn a person without giving him the opportunity even to speak?”
