English language curriculum to be revamped

Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says the Education Ministry will ensure the new curriculum for English language be based on recommendations from experts and linguists.

Muhyiddin is known to be a liberal UMNO stalwart, and is known during UMNO’s General Assemblies to speak critically by quoting the Qu’ran,which have inspired many.

Muhyiddin has also been known for falling out with his party’s own leaders. He attacked Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s original transition plan as “too long”, and some people say that to one point Muhyiddin was about to ask Abdullah to quit, though he never did so.

Muhyiddin during the 2008 elections, managed to keep his seat, and remained as an UMNO leader. Shocked by the election results, he has called for reforms.

He is not seen as a UMNO Pro-Malay nationalist stalwart, and is seen to be a centrist who agrees that more should be done in reforms and racial relations in Malaysia. Muhyiddin served as one of the Vice-presidents of UMNO too.
