Dr Munawar Anees File An Appeal To Clear His Name

Dr Munawar Anees appeal to a sodomy charge to the High Court for arguments on merit will be decided by the Federal Court tomorrow.

He was in court again after Justice Datuk Ahmad Maarop had denied his appeal without even hearing the merits of the case and given no grounds for the dismissal.

The decision for the appeal success now lies in the hand of Chief Justice Tan Sri Zaki Tun Azmi, Federal Court judges Datuk Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin and Datuk Nik Hashim Nik Abdul Rahman.

Dr Munawar Anees was the individual who pleaded guilty to sodomy charges in 1998 and was imprisoned for six months for it.

He pleaded guilty to allow now Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim to sodomise him at a house in Jalan Setia Murni, Bukit Damansara, in March 1993.

He’s now filing an appeal in a bid to clear his name.
