![]() Samy Vellu says “Nobody can tell us (MIC) what to do”Published Sep 10th, 2009In an interview with Malaysiakini, the veteran MIC president S Samy Vellu says external forces cannot interfere in the affairs of MIC.
Datuk Seri Samy Vellu Sangalimuthu (born 8 March 1936) is a Malaysian politician. He is the longest serving President of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), a component party of the Barisan Nasional coalition. He has held the position since 1979, for 11 consecutive terms. He was the Works Minister of Malaysia and the longest serving minister in the Cabinet of Malaysia until his defeat in the 12th General Election. His party, the MIC, too suffered heavy losses in the election. These losses are associated with the mass uprising staged by Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF) in November 25, 2007. ![]()
