![]() UMNO Man Jumps Ship For PKRPublished Jan 26th, 2009
Datuk Nasarudin Hashim is a former UMNO assemblyman from Bota and he has quit his Barisan Nasional party for the Opposition. The crossover has the Perak state seats changed-hand, with PKR increases to 32 seats and Barisan Nasional saw one seat less at 27. The 58 year old has cited his reason for leaving based on his constituency growing support for Pakatan Rakyat. He also reasoned that with increasing dissent and politicking with UMNO and their leaders, he’ better off representing his constituent with the PKR. Nasarudin stated, “I am confident PKR will continue to uphold and respect the Constitution with regards to the position of Bahasa Melayu (sic) as the official national language, the position of the Rulers and Islam as the federal religion.” The Pakatan Rakyat alliance has promised more crossovers and has commented ‘they are working on it’. ![]()
