![]() Anwar’s Response to the 17 Indian DetaineePublished Mar 1st, 2009
Opposition de facto Leader Anwar Ibrahim says there’s gross injustice in the recent detaining of seventeen ethnic Indians, among them is even an MP; Kapar member of parliament S. Manikavasagam. He said those who were arrested had done nothing wrong as they only wanted to lodge a police report, but got arrested instead. The protesters was at Brickfields police headquarters in support of their detained Hindraf leader P Uthayakumar of alleged ill-treatment during detention. He was detained by the police last Saturday. Anwar added, “I protest. People who lodged police reports against Karpal Singh escape while those who defended their friends at Kamunting are detained. I’ve seen Umno’s demonstration in Penang. They controlled the entire area but nobody was even questioned” ![]()
