Anwar Wife Says Sodomy Charges Are ‘Ridiculous’

Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, politician and wife of Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who once took over the helm of her husband role when he was charged and served corruption and sodomy charges back in 1998, shudders at the thought of going through the ordeal again.
The current president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat told the media that Anwar’s current sodomy charges was “ridiculous”.
The previous sodomy charges the government tries to stick with Anwar was overturned by the court in 2004 for finding contradictions in the prosecution’s case.
She also added that “Let’s be serious. Anwar is a very religious person and father of six children. Accusing him of sodomy once more shows that we have to work harder because our country is yet to change.”
It is believed that the charges brought upon Anwar a decade ago and now are politically motivated.
Anwar’s sodomy next hearing will be on November 7th, where it will decide the validity of certificate for transfer of the case to High Court.
