The trial for Anwar Ibrahim will starts July 8th
De facto Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has spoken about his pending trial which starts July 8th.
He’s ready for the long court battle dates and doesn’t expect to be given a fair trial.
Anwar quipped as he spoke to the media, “My chances, given a free fair trial, are 100 per cent, but under the current circumstances the chances go down fast. The worst-case scenario for me personally would be great for the opposition and the worst-case scenario for the government. There will be a huge outcry here and internationally. Nobody likes to go to jail, but I will do it if forced to and hopefully out like a hero.”
The 61 year old seems positive on the both outcome of his trial.
He would gladly be content not to spend any jail-time, but if convicted, indeed it will be a rallying cry for Anwar’s supporters for justice and reforms, and sway more votes for his party in the next elections.
