Anwar Motion To Discuss Economy Rejected By Parliament

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim is adamant to be heard and wishes to discuss the negative foreign investment that is inflowing into Malaysia, so he proposed a motion to discuss the negative FDI flow.
But Parliament deputy speaker Ronald Kiandee turned his motion down, stating “it is not necessarily an immediate concern”.
That statement just boggles me, when there’s report of the economy ‘bleeding’ money. In 2007 the FDI shows RM29 billion of income and outgoing was RM38 billion.
With the global economic crunch, I would only assume the figure would be higher this year, and indeed the government is in denial, not wanting to discuss it in Parliament.
Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim
“In 1995, Malaysia, in terms of FDI, was sixth in the world. In 2006 we were in the 60s in ranking. Why is it difficult for the government to set aside one or two hours to discuss a specific issue affecting our country? We want to engage, they don’t want to engage.”
