Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial appeal is today
De facto Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will present his appeal in The Court of Appeal today.
What that means is that, DSAI is appealing over the transfer order of his sodomy trial that was changed from the Sessions Court to the High Court.
Anwar couldn’t be present yesterday as he had to be in Dewan Rakyat as told by his counsel Sulaiman Abdullah.
Thus the judges of Datuk Abdull Hamid Embong, Datuk Abu Samah Nordin and Datuk Jeffrey Tan Kok Wha adjourned it to today for the appeal.
The tussle of transfer between High and Session court was last ‘won’ by the prosecutor where an appeal by the prosecutor on March 5th, High Court Justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah ruled the case should be moved to the High Court.
Anwar wants the case to be brought down to the Sessions court as it threatens his right to a fair trial. He claims it would face him with a biased judge.
If his final appeal fails, Anwa’s sodomy trial starts as scheduled on July 8th in the High Court.
