Opposition de facto Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has filed an emergency motion in Parliament yesterday over the Federal Government’s three mega projects which has been nothing more than controversial as of late. He wants a Royal Commission to investigate into the matters of the $RM11.31 billion High Speed Broadband Project, the $RM4.26 billion purchase of the Bank Internasional Indonesia by Maybank and the $RM1.7 billion procurement of 12 units of the Eurocopter Cougar EC 725 helicopters. Anwar address his concerns for the High Speed Broadband Project was that it was approved too hastily by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak without an open tender process. He also added that the DPM was also responsible in approving the purchase of 56% of the shares in the Bank International Indonesia through Maybank. The price bought was five times more than the book value. Lastly in the motion, he added that for the Eurocopter deal, there was discrepancies in the numbers and the deal was made in a “dubious manner”. ![]()
