![]() Anwar Ibrahim Fair Trial In JeopardyPublished Oct 8th, 2008
Anwar Ibrahim, leader of Malaysia’s opposition alliance was back in court yesterday for his charges of sodomy against his former male aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan The proceedings in court yesterday was to decide if the case should be moved to country’s high court as ordered by Abdul Gani Patail, the Attorney-General, Malaysia’s top prosecutor previously Anwar is obviously not too happy on that ‘order’ as it threatens his right to a fair trial. He claims it would face him with a biased judge, and also said there’s no reason why should the case be moved to higher court when all along such similar charges was dealt in the lower court In Malaysia, sodomy is prohibited and if convicted, one could be jailed up to 20 years
