![]() Anti-Corruption And Judicial Appointments Bill PassedPublished Dec 21st, 2008
The Dewan Rakyat saw two major bills passed by the house, with it heated debates and drama amongst the MPs. The Judicial Appointments Commission and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission were passed by the Dewan Rakyat and monitored by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who initiated the reform. The next step would be putting it up for debate at the Dewan Negara, and final approval by the King before gazetted as law. Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) now is set to join Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Still in discussion at the Dewan Rakyat was the Pensions (Amendment) Bill 2008, the Statutory and Local Authorities Pensions (Amendment) Bill 2008, the Pensions Adjustment (Amendment) Bill 2008 and the Judges’ Remuneration (Amendment) Bill 2008. Final say on more Bills passing continues next year in February when the Dewan Rakyat convenes. ![]()
