![]() Badawi may quit in June 2009Published Sep 26th, 2008
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the current Malaysian Prime Minister may step down from his post much earlier than the 2010 date as planned. As he stepped down, his successor, his deputy Najib Tun Razak is likely to take over. This new revelation was a proposal that is to be discussed today at the UMNO emergency meeting party. It is said Abdullah Badawi had asked UMNO supreme council to move back the leadership elections to be held this December to next year as he wants to avoid a contested vote which might see him being forced out. Badawi so far to be looks adamant and resilient in not relinquishing his PM post despite his party’s worst even election result earlier this March, where the opposition has won and captured more than a third of seats in parliament. ![]()
