16 Activists Cyclist ArrestedPublished Dec 7th, 2008
16 activists who are on their ‘Ride for Change’ campaign by cycling, was arrested. In the early morning, some 50 police officers rounded up 12 cyclist, while another four arrested later. The police claims the arrest was over illegal assembly and has since released them after an hour of questioning. The group is still being followed by the police and the activist claims it’s ‘intimidation’. They who will hand over their memorandum to PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim at the end of their campaing. ‘Ride for Change’ is to raise awareness of current country plight such ISA, food shortage, high cost of living and the current global economic crisis.
